The thing about modern life is we seem to live in such a throwaway society. The food and packaging waste alone drives me mad..!
I admit I throw away a tonne of food a year, generally because I've opened it, used a tiny amount and been unable to seal it again properly. I regularly wash out my Chinese tubs and reuse them, but when they're curry stained that's not a very attractive proposition.
I’m really pleased I was able to find some middle-ground with TD Online’s small plastic tubs. They’re a relatively ‘cheap throw-away’ product that I don’t actually have to chuck after one use…
- They’re foodsafe, so ideal for my baked beans / bacon etc once I’ve opened it – I don’t want to keep using yards of clingfilm.
- They’ll take a certain amount of heat in the microwave as long as I don’t nuke it lol
- They’re easy to wash and reuse
- When I’ve used them too many times and they’ve got a bit stained, I can wash them and pop them in my blue recycling bin
I love how the different shapes and sizes suit my leftovers and culinary efforts – I often make too much soup or stew so I simply portion it up and refrigerate it or take it to my neighbour or sister down the road. I’m safe in the knowledge that once pressed firmly in, the push-fit lid will ensure I can pop a few in a bag and not have to worry about leakage (as long as I make sure to listen for the click noise when I close it).
They call them ‘tamper evident’, and I suppose they are, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use them again and again.
Thank goodness for TD Online and their excellent quality products, thumbs up from me!! Molly, Wiltshire
